We undertake two internships: the 1A/2A one, which lasts 14 weeks and is primarily designed to give students a chance to explore a company, followed by the six-month end-of-course internship.

It is possible to go abroad to do an internship. Scholarships are available in France and Germany to help students.

Compensation is mandatory for internships at all host organizations in France that last longer than 308 hours (2 months), and the hourly rate for compensation must be at least €3.90 per hour of internship. However, internships in other countries are not subject to the same laws, and compensation depends on the laws of that country.

1A/2A internship

/!\ The requirements are changing for the 2026–2027 academic year; it appears that, in order to complete the internship, you will have less than 4 months free in 1A but more than 2 months in 2A.

A total of 14 weeks of internship at a private company before the third year is required to earn the engineering degree. Each student must have the “internship agreement” signed before the start of each internship.

There are two possible scenarios:

  • You will complete the mandatory first-year internship (between May and August) at a company for a total of 14 weeks. You will then have met the 14-week requirement set by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI).
  • You will complete the mandatory first-year internship at a company for less than 14 weeks (but no fewer than the minimum of 8 weeks). Then, in order to meet the minimum requirement of 14 weeks of internship, you will need to complete another internship during your first and/or second year.

You will be required to submit either a 10-page bibliographic report or a 10-page scientific report. In addition, you may be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement if the company requests it.

End-of-course internship

For the end-of-course internship (6 months), students must write a report and give an oral presentation (in English). This presentation takes place in September of the “fourth year” and is followed by the graduation ceremony!

Provided that the student has completed the 14-week 1A/2A internship at a private company required by the CTI, the end-of-course internship may be completed at a public organization.
