Description of ESBS

You will have the chance to study in the Alsace Biovalley cluster, a dynamic group of companies working in the pharmaceutical and biotech fields. Many companies are located near the school, in particular Biosynex or Thermo Fischer, as well as small companies and startups like Transgène or Twistaroma.

The campus is located in Alsace Biovalley and is accessible by streetcar lines A and E. It includes the API cluster, the Faculty of Pharmacy and the IUT.

The API cluster includes the two engineering schools ESBS and TPS, as well as research centers and start-ups.

A Language Resource Center (LRC) is also part of the API cluster. This is where English and German courses are held.

The IGBMC (Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology) is also closely linked to the school. The IGBMC occupies a large research building near the school, as well as the floors above the ESBS.

Many ESBS professors conduct their research in this institute.

The school is less than 10 minutes walk from the streetcar stop Campus d’Illkirch and is accessible by bike thanks to the cycle tracks. Parking lots are also available for students.

ESBS is a public school, teaching a trinational program. We study the basics of biotechnology, engineering sciences and humanities, economics and social sciences (HES). Most of the courses take place in Strasbourg, but practical courses and projects are also taught in Germany and Switzerland.

At the end of the 3 years of training, the students obtain a diploma of Engineer in Biotechnology. It is recognized by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur and given by the universities of Strasbourg, Basel and Fribourg.

Since 2014, ESBS and the European School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials, ECPM, have joined forces to create the “ChemBiotech” chemistry and biotechnology engineering degree, the first of its kind in France. Do not hesitate to visit the page dedicated to them on our website (1/2 of the curriculum is taught in french)!
